Country profile

Cities, water and a landscape of connections.

Belarus is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe, bordered by Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine. Minsk is the capital, Belarusian and Russian are official languages, and the currency is the Belarusian ruble.

Its towns and cities sit within a wider landscape of woodland, rivers, farmland and lakes. Historic residences and craft collections offer one way into its past; manufacturing and technical knowledge offer another view of the present.

Uganda’s connection includes diplomatic representation and a documented agenda in agriculture, trade and education. The honorary office in Kampala adds a local point of contact to that relationship.

Whether the subject is equipment, processing or specialist knowledge, a clear specification helps a potential partner assess the task. Explain the operating conditions and the result you need.

Agriculture & food systemsBegin with the production challenge

Agricultural cooperation featured in the documented 2025 agenda. Potential enquiries can define a need in cultivation, mechanisation, processing or storage, then identify an appropriate supplier or institution.

  • Describe the process and operating conditions.
  • Confirm capacity, quality and support needs.
  • Agree a realistic first activity.
Machinery & engineeringLook beyond the initial purchase

Equipment proposals should account for specifications, compatibility, servicing, training and parts. Confirm the supplier’s ability to support the product where it will be used.

  • Prepare the technical requirement.
  • Confirm installation and maintenance.
  • Work through delivery and after-sales support.
Research & specialist knowledgeChoose a question worth working on

A research or technical exchange needs a defined problem, suitable institutions and agreement on the resources available. Keep proposed collaborations distinct from announced programmes.

  • Identify the institutions and responsible people.
  • Agree the objective and expected output.
  • Confirm funding, supervision and recognition.
Preparing a commercial approachMake the next decision easier

Set out the organisation, requirement, proposed partner contribution and intended market. Check applicable trade restrictions and lawful payment and transport arrangements before entering a commitment.

  • Verify counterparties and responsibilities.
  • Record the commercial assumptions.
  • Use the competent authority for the procedure.
Prepare the enquiry

One clear brief. A useful next step.

Introduce the organisation, the requirement and the contribution you can make. Ask which agency, supplier or institution should take the conversation forward.

Living culture

The material.
The pattern.
The maker.

Straw weaving turns an agricultural material into containers, ornaments and forms with ceremonial meaning. UNESCO’s account recognises both inherited knowledge and the creativity of present-day makers.

The tradition continues through families, cultural centres and workshops. Looking closely at an object can reveal the skill and the community behind it.
