Country profile

Many landscapes. A character of its own.

Thailand occupies a central position in mainland Southeast Asia, with a long southern peninsula reaching towards Malaysia. Bangkok is the capital, Thai is the official language and the baht is the currency.

The country’s settings change from mountain communities and agricultural plains to busy urban neighbourhoods and the shores of the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand. Each invites a different pace and a different kind of encounter.

For Uganda, the connection has practical substance. Documented official discussions have covered commerce, tourism, agricultural processing, fisheries and professional learning.

Thailand & Uganda

A relationship with practical possibilities.

Business, development cooperation and people-to-people contact give the relationship several points of entry. The most useful proposals connect a specific need with an institution or partner able to respond.

A processing challenge, a product specification or a need for technical skills gives a potential partner something concrete to consider. Be clear about the expected result and what your organisation brings.

The Board of Investment provides information on Thai industries and investment support. Commercial enquiries should also identify the supplier or institution best suited to the task.

Agriculture & food processingWork through the value chain

Food science and agricultural processing appear in documented bilateral discussions. Potential exchanges can focus on a defined production problem, quality requirement or learning objective.

  • Choose the product or process.
  • Identify an appropriate technical counterpart.
  • Agree a practical demonstration or first activity.
Manufacturing & technical supplyBring a usable specification

Machinery, components and production services require more than an introduction. Describe capacity, standards, maintenance and the environment in which the product will be used.

  • Confirm specifications and applicable standards.
  • Check installation, training and after-sales support.
  • Agree pricing, delivery and responsibilities.
Tourism & service skillsTurn interest into a relevant exchange

Tourism has featured in the bilateral agenda. Operator introductions, hospitality learning and cultural programming are possible subjects for institutions to explore with suitable partners.

  • Identify the intended participants.
  • Set out the programme and learning outcome.
  • Confirm the partners, costs and timing.
Preparing a commercial enquiryMake the proposal easy to assess

Introduce the organisation, the requirement, the market and the contribution you can make. Use the relevant official agency for procedures and verify the commercial counterpart before agreeing terms.

  • State the need and achievable scale.
  • Describe the proposed transaction or activity.
  • Confirm procedures and the next responsible contact.
Prepare the introduction

A clear need. A credible next step.

Include your organisation, the capability you seek, your proposed contribution and a realistic first activity. Ask which institution or department should receive the enquiry.

Country insights

Look beyond the first impression.

A journey through Thailand can move from an urban riverfront to a farming landscape or a workshop where a familiar material becomes something distinctive.

Leave space for local guides, small businesses and the time needed to understand how a place works. The most memorable detail is often the one that never appeared on the itinerary.

Songkran is more than a water celebration. UNESCO’s account describes a traditional New Year shaped by family reunion, respect for elders and rituals that express renewal and goodwill.

Other encounters take place around food, music or skilled work. Approach them with curiosity, follow local customs at religious sites and ask before photographing people or their craft.

TICA also publishes international training information. Institutions can explore a programme linked to a defined professional need, while confirming the current selection and funding arrangements.

Before applying or proposing an exchange

Check the course language, entry requirements, nomination route, funding conditions and recognition. Confirm that the application period is open; a past course announcement is not a current offer.

Which visa or entry rule applies?

Requirements depend on nationality, residence and the purpose of the journey. Check the official system and Embassy guidance for your case rather than relying on a general statement about all travellers.

Where should the application go?

Follow the application channel and jurisdiction shown by the responsible Thai authority. The Thai e-Visa website provides the official online route and information about the relevant process.
