Consular profile

Kwame Ejalu Ejuku is named as Ghana’s Honorary Consul on the Honorary Consulates in Uganda homepage and in UETCL’s published professional profile.

That profile describes a Ugandan entrepreneur with experience in insurance and pensions and records a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Business Finance from Brunel University. It also outlines earlier leadership roles with Marsh Uganda, Alexander Forbes and Liberty Insurance Brokers.

His public engagement with Ghana includes the UETCL study tour hosted by GRIDCo in 2022, an example of institutional exchange between the two countries.

Country profile

Follow the coast.
Look beyond the capital.

Ghana sits on the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa, bordered by Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Togo. Accra is the capital; English is the official language and the Ghana cedi is the currency.

The country opens out in several directions. Along the coast are fishing communities, historic towns and sites of profound remembrance. Inland, forest landscapes, the Volta waters and centres of craft and commerce tell different stories.

Independence on 6 March 1957 remains central to Ghana’s national identity. Today, a visit can take in both that public history and the everyday energy of markets, music, food and enterprise.

Country & government

One presidency. Two constitutional roles.

Ghana’s Constitution makes the President both Head of State and Head of Government. The country is a republic, with institutions and public life centred on its constitutional framework.

Connections with
something to build on.

Diplomatic representation is one part of the relationship. Institutional learning and the wider ambition for trade across Africa provide other places to begin.

A good product
needs a route
to its customer.

For a Ugandan business exploring Ghana, the useful starting point is a defined need: a buyer’s specification, an operating challenge or a capability that a partner wants to develop.

Ghana’s investment agency and Export Promotion Authority provide different forms of information and business support. Use the one that matches your enquiry.

Explore investment in Ghana
Food, agriculture & processingBegin with the buyer

Agriculture and agro-processing appear among Ghana’s investment priorities. A potential supplier or processing partnership needs a clear product, quality requirement and commercial reason to proceed.

Build the enquiry
  • Agree product specifications and volumes.
  • Check import, labelling and documentation requirements.
  • Compare the full delivered cost.
Manufacturing & professional servicesConnect expertise to an operating need

Manufacturing, ICT, financial services and other sectors appear in the official investment information. The strongest first approach explains the problem and how your organisation could contribute.

Build the enquiry
  • Identify the right sector contact.
  • Describe your experience and delivery capacity.
  • Agree a manageable first scope.
Creative enterprise & tourismTurn a cultural connection into useful work

Design, craft, visitor services and hospitality offer subjects for operator or business conversations. Specific opportunities depend on the organisations involved and the value they can create together.

Build the enquiry
  • Find a counterpart with a relevant audience.
  • Define the product, service or exchange.
  • Set out responsibilities and commercial terms.
Trading across AfricaUse the framework, then check the detail

AfCFTA information can help frame an enquiry, but a business still needs to verify the rules and procedures for its product, market and shipment. Ask the responsible trade and customs authorities before making commitments.

Build the enquiry
  • Confirm product eligibility and required evidence.
  • Verify the counterparty and payment terms.
  • Plan transport, insurance and delivery.

Some places ask
you to pause.

Ghana’s coastal forts and castles hold histories that extend far beyond their walls. A visit is a chance to learn, remember and listen, with a knowledgeable guide helping to place what you see in context.

Give these sites time. Their meaning is part of the journey, alongside the communities and landscapes around them.

Craft, food & cultural life

Meet the people
behind the colour.

A woven cloth carries skill, time and a maker’s choices. A market or a local meal can reveal another part of a place. Ask questions and leave room for an encounter you did not schedule.

Use local guides and businesses where possible, and ask before photographing people or their work.

Knowledge travels
through people.

An academic application and an institutional exchange need different starting points. Begin with a programme for the first; begin with a shared learning objective for the second.

For prospective students

Go straight
to the institution.

The University of Ghana publishes programmes and admissions information, including routes for international applicants. Compare entry requirements, fees, qualification recognition and the support available before applying.

For institutions & professionals

Give the exchange
a useful outcome.

The documented GRIDCo-UETCL engagement offers an example of practical institutional learning. New proposals should identify the partners, skills and outcomes rather than assume an existing programme or scholarship.

Plan the learning, not just the visit

Agree the participants, duration, programme, supervision and funding. Set out how the experience will be used afterwards and confirm any travel or professional requirements.

GRIDCo and UETCL
agree to cooperate.

GRIDCo’s published account records a study tour by UETCL’s Board and a memorandum of understanding between the two electricity transmission organisations.

The engagement included technical sessions and facility visits, with UETCL’s delegation led by Kwame Ejalu Ejuku. It provides a concrete example of knowledge sharing between Ghana and Uganda.
