Country profile

A Mediterranean country with many perspectives.

Greece occupies the southern end of the Balkan peninsula and extends across islands in the surrounding seas. Athens is the capital, Greek is the official language, and the currency is the euro.

Its character reaches beyond a single coastline. Mountain settlements, cultivated landscapes and active cities sit alongside archaeological places and island communities. The sea connects many of these settings without making them all alike.

The Hellenic Republic is a parliamentary republic and a member of the European Union. For Uganda, honorary representation in Kampala and diplomatic accreditation through Nairobi provide established points of contact.

Proposals with a practical purpose

A business, cultural or academic approach needs a willing counterpart and a defined outcome. Choose the institution that matches the subject and explain what each partner can contribute.

A product with a purpose.
A partner who fits.
A route to the market.

Food, specialist services and tourism are different conversations. Each begins more usefully when the organisation can name the customer, describe the requirement and explain the proposed contribution.

Enterprise Greece is the national trade and investment agency. Its sector information provides a starting point for assessing the setting and identifying the next professional enquiry.

Food & agricultural productsConnect the producer with the buyer

A food-trade enquiry should define the product, intended customer and required quality. Traceability, packaging and delivery conditions matter alongside price.

  • Prepare specifications and sample requirements.
  • Confirm the relevant food and import standards.
  • Plan handling, storage and receiving arrangements.
Tourism & visitor servicesBuild around the experience and the host

A tourism proposal needs more than a destination name. Identify the visitor, local operator and experience, then agree the responsibilities that make it deliverable.

  • Name the proposed counterpart and audience.
  • Confirm operating arrangements and seasonality.
  • Agree service standards before promotion.
Logistics & technical servicesLet the actual requirement guide the approach

Enterprise Greece presents logistics, energy and ICT among its investment sectors. A useful technical brief explains scale, local conditions and the support needed after delivery.

  • Describe the operation and desired improvement.
  • Check compatibility and skills requirements.
  • Include maintenance and ongoing support.
Preparing a commercial introductionMake the first exchange informative

Explain the organisation, market, timing and resources available. Ask which team or business is best placed to assess the proposal.

  • Verify the proposed counterpart.
  • Record commercial and delivery assumptions.
  • Use the competent authority for formal requirements.
Prepare the enquiry

Give the idea a practical shape.

Introduce the people, the requirement and the result you want to achieve. A concise brief helps the receiving organisation direct the conversation.

Country insights

Look past the familiar postcard.

A harbour tells a different story at the start of the day. An olive grove asks you to notice the land behind the meal. A mountain settlement changes the scale of the journey.

Greece rewards the traveller who leaves room for these smaller observations. Give the mainland the same curiosity as the islands, and each region begins to speak in its own voice.

The time together.

The Mediterranean diet is also a story of knowledge, preparation and sharing. What reaches the table connects people to the land, to skills learned over time and to the occasion of eating together.

Greece participates in UNESCO’s multinational inscription of this living heritage. It is a cultural practice shared across communities, with local forms that deserve to be understood on their own terms.

Fees and scholarship eligibility vary by programme and award. A funding listing is a starting point for checking the current call, rather than a promise that every applicant qualifies.

Longer stays & other requests

fits the activity.

Study, work and other longer stays may require a national visa and further steps. The Embassy can direct the enquiry; ask the honorary office which local assistance it is authorised to provide.

What should an initial enquiry explain?

State your nationality, country of residence, purpose and intended dates. Ask which authority receives the application and which documents are needed.

Can I visit the Kampala office without an appointment?

Contact the published telephone, mobile or consular email first. The listed P.O. Box is a postal address; confirm the current visiting location and available service before setting out.

Where should I send a document-service request?

Ask the Embassy or honorary office to confirm the responsible authority, the document requirements and any translation or authentication steps before sending originals.

Tourism.
Economy, science and technology.

The Greek Foreign Ministry records agreements with Uganda covering tourism cooperation and economic, scientific and technological cooperation, both dating to 2006.

These are part of the documented relationship. A new project still needs the relevant institutions, an agreed scope and confirmation of the arrangements that would support it.
