Country profile

An island republic with a wider outlook.

Malta is an island republic in the central Mediterranean, south of Sicily. Valletta is the capital, Maltese and English are official languages, and the euro is the currency.

The principal islands are Malta, Gozo and Comino. Their settings move from fortified cities and busy harbours to villages, coastal cliffs and smaller island landscapes. Malta has been a member of the European Union since 2004.

Its contemporary identity includes tourism, manufacturing, maritime and aviation activity, technology and university learning. These offer specific subjects for institutions and businesses in Uganda to explore with suitable Maltese partners.

A specific need.
A relevant partner.
A practical start.

Malta Enterprise is the country’s economic development agency. Its industry and business information provides a starting point for understanding available capabilities and support.

For an Uganda-Malta enquiry, define the product, service or learning objective. Confirm the commercial counterpart, regulatory requirements and delivery conditions before agreeing terms.

Advanced manufacturing & life sciencesStart with the technical requirement

Malta Enterprise’s sector material covers advanced manufacturing and life sciences. Potential introductions should identify the relevant expertise, product standard and commercial objective.

  • Provide a usable product or service specification.
  • Check certification and regulatory responsibilities.
  • Agree delivery, technical support and next steps.
ICT & specialist servicesDefine what the work must achieve

Digital and shared-service enquiries work best with a clear scope, expected result and responsible team. Verify the counterpart’s experience and capacity for the particular requirement.

  • Describe the problem and required output.
  • Confirm data, security and delivery obligations.
  • Set milestones, responsibilities and acceptance criteria.
Maritime, aviation & tourismConnect expertise with a concrete need

Malta’s investment information includes maritime and aviation activity, alongside a substantial visitor economy. Treat these as research themes for suitable commercial or institutional partners.

  • Identify the particular capability sought.
  • Confirm professional approvals and operating conditions.
  • Set out the proposed first activity and costs.
Preparing a business introductionMake the proposal easy to assess

Share an organisation profile, your requirement and what you can contribute. Use the relevant agency for procedures and verify the commercial counterpart independently.

  • State the market and realistic scale.
  • Describe the proposed transaction or activity.
  • Identify who can authorise the next step.
Prepare the introduction

A clear brief makes a useful beginning.

Include the organisation, need, proposed contribution and first activity. Ask which institution or department should receive the enquiry, then confirm the appropriate procedures.
