Country profile

From a river capital to a desert horizon.

Chad is a landlocked country in Central Africa, bordered by Libya, Sudan, the Central African Republic, Cameroon, Nigeria and Niger. N’Djamena is the capital, French and Arabic are official languages, and the currency is the Central African CFA franc.

The country’s geography changes markedly from north to south. Saharan rock and sand give way to the Sahel and, farther south, savanna landscapes. Rivers, grazing areas and settlements connect livelihoods to the availability of water.

For Uganda, the relationship begins with local honorary representation and a shared place in African institutions. Enterprise, education and cultural understanding offer subjects for a considered introduction.

A business or academic approach is more useful when it names the intended counterpart and the question to be explored. National agencies and institutions can help identify the next step.

The product.
The route.
The local requirement.

A commercial introduction becomes stronger when it explains how goods, skills or services would reach the people who need them. Cost, distance and after-sales support are part of that calculation.

ANIE is the national investment and export promotion agency. Use its current sector information and business facilitation services to frame a specific enquiry.

Agriculture & food processingBegin with the value chain

Describe the product, the source of supply and the intended customer. Processing ideas need a realistic account of seasonal volumes, power, storage and quality assurance.

  • Map the supply and demand.
  • Specify the process and capacity.
  • Plan quality, packaging and storage.
Livestock & related servicesUnderstand the operating conditions

Proposals in livestock systems can consider handling, veterinary support, feed, processing or logistics. Establish the local need and the competent authority before choosing a technical solution.

  • Define the service or production need.
  • Identify appropriate local partners.
  • Account for animal health requirements.
Logistics & business servicesLook at the complete route

Landlocked trade requires attention to transit countries, border procedures and delivery arrangements. A service proposal should explain reliability, local support and the responsibilities of each participant.

  • Document the actual route.
  • Check applicable customs requirements.
  • Agree delivery and service terms.
Preparing an investment enquiryGive the agency something to assess

Set out the organisation, proposed activity, scale, location and financing assumptions. Request information on the requirements that apply to the specific project.

  • Provide a short project brief.
  • Identify the approvals to investigate.
  • Use current agency instructions.
Prepare the enquiry

A well-framed question travels further.

Introduce the activity, its intended benefit and the local capability you need. A short, specific brief helps the receiving institution direct the conversation.

Country insights

Look again at the desert.

Water lies beyond the dunes at Ounianga. Elsewhere, carved sandstone rises into open sky. The contrast is a reminder that a national landscape rarely fits one familiar image.

Explore the heritage record to understand these places. For any proposed journey, current security guidance, permissions and local arrangements remain essential.

Living culture

The clay.
The maker.
The everyday form.

A vessel can be practical, decorative and personal at the same time. Looking closely at its shape and surface brings the maker’s decisions into view.

These craft views sit alongside a much older visual record in Chad’s rock art. Together they invite questions about skill, use and the ways people leave a mark on their surroundings.

Can documents be submitted in Kampala?

The honorary office’s address, services and submission arrangements remain unconfirmed. Do not assume that a particular procedure is handled locally.

Do heritage photographs establish visitor access?

No. Images introduce landscapes and cultural heritage. Current security guidance, entry rules, local permissions and transport arrangements need separate verification.
